Crafting for Connection During COVID-19: A Community Quilt Project

While at Davidson College, I teamed up with Research and Academic Engagement Librarian Meggie Lasher to develop an outreach project during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meggie had previous experience coordinating "Crafternoons," or community crafting projects at the library, and we built upon this framework to make a quilt. Members of the Davidson community picked up individual quilt squares and decorated them to commemorate an aspect of their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. After Meggie Collected the squares, Annelise and her mom, Annmarie Gorensek, turned them into a quilt.

The quilt was donated to the Archives at the E. H. Little Library at Davidson College as a part of their initiative, Re(Collecting) COVID-19, to chronicle the experiences of the Davidson Community.

Funding was provided by the Davidson Arts and Creative Engagement (DACE) fund, as well as the E. H. Little Library.
